As you well know, proper building ventilation techniques are extremely important, both for fire control and firefighter safety. The more realistic the training activities for this dangerous operation can be made, the better and safer this procedure will be carried out on a live, working fire scene.

We have developed a new product which will make the training sessions for ventilation much more realistic, by utilizing the actual chain saw. This tool holds a piece of chalk and attaches to the end of the chain saw bar. Since it is important to make the cuts in specific areas, the Vent Marker training tool can have the trainee use an actual saw and place marks on the area where they believe the cuts should be made. These marks then are inspected by the trainer for proper location. Use real buildings, bay floors, training props and then wash off with a hose or water extinguisher.

By having the weight and balance of a real saw, the trainee will gain experience handling an actual chain saw. For even more realistic practice, the chain can be removed and the trainee will go through the entire actions of climbing on the roof, starting the motor, and making the proper motions, all while learning the important training steps.
